Joint Projects refers to Jump Rope For Heart and Hoops For Heart. They are national events sponsored by the American Heart Association and the Society of Health and Physical Educators, America. Students in these programs have fun jumping rope and playing basketball — all while becoming empowered to improve their health and help other kids with heart health issues. Funds raised through Jump Rope For Heart and Hoops For Heart give back to children, communities and schools through the American Heart Association’s work. Each year Joint Projects awards ten $400 grants to schools that participate in Jump Rope for Heart or Hoops for Heart. The grants are presented at the NCAAHPERD-SM Convention in November.
The Friends of NCAAHPERD-SM was established in 1989 to raise funds for worthwhile projects of the NCAAHPERD-SM membership. Each year Friends awards a number of grants to individuals or groups that propose worthy projects that promote the interests or vision of NCAAHPERD-SM. The grants are presented at the NCAAHPERD-SM Convention in November.
Fuel Up to Play 60 is a program founded by the National Dairy Council and NFL, in collaboration with USDA, that empowers students to take charge in making small, everyday changes at school. Students can win cool prizes, like an NFL player visit or Super Bowl tickets, for choosing good-for-you foods and getting active for at least 60 minutes every day. Fuel Up to Play 60 wants kids to make a difference not only in their lives, but also their community.
