Male Coach of the Year Nomination Form
Award Background: Two high school coaches will be recognized annually. One for the Female High School Coach of the Year and one for the Male High School Coach of the Year.
Award Criteria: Award recipients must demonstrate a high level of understanding and appreciation for continuing education in coaching. Additionally, recipients must demonstrate dedication to ongoing professional development and to enhancing leadership skills.
- Coaches must be members of NC SHAPE and NCAAE when applying for and receiving the award.
- Must have coached during the present school year.
- Demonstrates dedication to attaining and maintaining the knowledge and skills to provide optimum athletic education for their students
- Has gone above and beyond in their duties to their team, sport, and career.
- Evidence exists of tremendous character, ethics, leadership, teaching/coaching skills, and rapport within their district.
- Has a reputation, among their peers and the athletic community, for fair play, good sportsmanship, and the development of these attributes in their student-athletes.
- Exemplifies passion and leadership locally and statewide for the promotion of coach education.
Nomination Deadline: April 15 of Each Year
Nominee Responsibilities:
- Verify NC SHAPE Membership: Log into the NC SHAPE website to verify your membership is in good standing when applying and receiving the award. Retired members may be exempted from this requirement.
- Curriculum Vitae: Prepare a 1-page curriculum vitae highlighting your successful experiences relevant to the award criteria above.
- Letter of Recommendation: A letter of recommendation from a direct supervisor.
- Written Statement: Compose a 250-word statement summarizing and explaining your qualifications for this award.
- Complete an Application and Upload the Application Documents: Once the Recognition Committee chair receives the nomination, an email will be sent to the nominee with a link to the application form, where the 1-page vita and written statement can be uploaded.
Application Deadline: May 15 of each year.
