Nominees should exemplify long-term commitment to student development, ethical sportsmanship, and the advancement of inclusive, education-based athletics. This award recognizes not just wins, but a legacy that elevates athletics as a meaningful extension of education.

NCAAE Lifetime Achievement Award in Athletics recipients demonstrate outstanding lifetime achievement, grounded in a commitment to continuing education. Additionally, recipients must be dedicated to ongoing professional development and enhancing leadership skills.

Award criteria include:

  1. Has an outstanding record of achievements in sport and athletics over many years.
  2. There is evidence of measurable contributions to student growth, team success, and program development.
  3. Shows leadership that promotes integrity, equity, and positive school culture.
  4. Has had a lasting influence on colleagues, students, and the broader school community.

Nomination Deadline: April 15 of each year.

Nominee Responsibilities:

  1. Verify NC SHAPE Membership: Log into the NC SHAPE website to verify your membership is in good standing when applying and receiving the award. Retired members may be exempted from this requirement.

  2. Curriculum Vitae: Prepare a 1-page curriculum vitae highlighting your successful experiences relevant to the award criteria above.

  3. Letter of Recommendation: A letter of recommendation from a direct supervisor.

  4. Written Statement: Compose a 250-word statement summarizing and explaining your qualifications for this award.

  5. Format: All documents must be in PDF format.

Application Deadline: May 15 of each year.
