Background: Every North Carolina college/university is requested to nominate students to represent their institution as having demonstrated outstanding student leadership and future professional involvement in the following six categories:
Health majors or minors
Physical Education majors or minors
Dance majors or minors
Athletics/Coaching majors of minors
Adapted Physical Education majors or minors (Can be a graduate student)
Sport Management majors or minors
Each of your student nominees will be recognized at a special “Student Majors Awards Session.”
Criteria:
Each applicant must attend a North Carolina college or university.
The applicant must be an undergraduate student majoring in one of NC SHAPE allied as seen above with a proven leadership track record of the highest quality. The exception will be for the Adapted PE Category as graduate students will be allowed to enter this category.
The recipient must be a member of NC SHAPE.
The recipient must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
There will be 6 different categories:
Health Student of the Year;
PE Student of the Year;
Sport Management Student of the Year;
Dance Student of the Year;
Adapted PE Student of the Year and
Athletics Student of the Year.
Each college or university can only submit one applicant per category. In other words, a student cannot be nominated to both the PE and Adapted PE categories.
Overall Winners and Outstanding NC SHAPE Future Professional of the Year: Additionally, your student(s) from the 6 categories listed above will be eligible to be selected as the Outstanding NC SHAPE Future Professional of the Year.
